Gearing Up for the Adventure at Bovay Scout Ranch!
Our pack is heading to the beautiful Bovay Scout Ranch in Navasota for an unforgettable camping experience this Friday! With rolling hills, sparkling lakes, and spectacular sunsets, this Adventure Camp weekend promises excitement, bonding, and memories to cherish.
What to Expect at Bovay Scout Ranch:
Located at 3450 County Road 317, Navasota, TX 77868, Bovay Scout Ranch sprawls over 1,498 acres and is a haven for local flora and fauna. The native Huisache and Bois-d'arc trees surround us as we embark on various activities, from fun program events to evening flag ceremonies. Plus, expect delicious meals in the air-conditioned dining hall.
Packing Right for the Campout:
Getting ready for the camp means being prepared! From essential items to the fun extras, here's a comprehensive list to make sure you have everything:
Personal (check with Cubmaster):
  • Copy of a current BSA Annual Health and Medical Record (Part A & B for all Scouting events) for every participant
  • Tent
  • Sleeping bag, sheets or blanket
  • Pillow
  • Cot or air mattress
  • Personal hygiene items (e.g., deodorant, comb, toothpaste, toothbrush)
  • Water bottle or canteen 
  • Scout Uniform, Weather-appropriate clothing, extra clothes and pajamas
  • Closed-toed shoes (tennis shoes) and extra pair are recommended
  • Rain gear
  • Flashlight with extra batteries 
  • Personal medications
  • Swimsuit and towel (weather permitting)
  • Towel and washcloth
  • Sunscreen and Insect repellent
  • Pocket knife and Totin' Chip
  • Personal first aid kit 
  • Day pack
  • Hand sanitizer
Optional
  • Money for patches, snacks and beverages, and t-shirts at the camp trading post, Trader Vics.
  • Alarm clock
  • Battery-operated lantern
  • Bicycle and bike helmet
  • Book of Faith
  • Camera
  • Camp chair
  • Cub Scout Handbook
  • Fishing gear
  • Glow sticks (great for keeping track of your kids at night and to play games)
  • Lockable foot locker
  • Shower shoes
  • Snacks (do not keep in the tent)
  • Sports drinks or flavor packets for water (to help keep Scouts hydrated)
  • Sunglasses
  • Phone battery backup charger
  • Wagon
Remember, mark everything with the Scout's name and pack number. Electricity will be limited, so plan accordingly.

The Schedule Breakdown:
From Friday's check-in to Sunday's farewell, our days will be packed:
  • Friday: Arrival, camp setup and free time.
  • Saturday: Program activities, meals, and some bonding time.
  • Sunday: Breakfast, check-out, and ensuring we leave the campsite as beautiful as we found it.
Remember, the final schedule will be shared following Friday's leader meeting.
Ensuring a Safe and Memorable Experience:
Safety and order are paramount. From the moment of arrival to departure, every step has been meticulously planned. Campers will check in upon arrival, and our designated leader will manage the registration process. Camp activities kick off on Saturday morning.
Departure is streamlined to ensure our campsite is tidy and damage-free. We're in this together – from cleaning assigned showers to picking up trash.

Other Important Information:
  • Rangers / Campmaster: Contact Dean Tartt at 936-827-9583 for any assistance.
  • Parking / Driving: Once parked, vehicles are to remain stationary. The camp is designed for foot traffic.
  • Medications: Ensure prescription medications are safely stored and administered.
  • Uniforms: Scouts and Scouters should wear field uniforms for evening ceremonies and campfires.
  • Personal Possessions: Ensure valuables are secured. It's best to leave electronics and other high-value items at home.
  • Emergencies: The camp is well-prepared for emergencies. Follow instructions, stay calm, and ensure the safety of our Scouts.
Directions to Bovay Scout Ranch:
The camp is located about six miles south of Navasota (one mile south of TX-6 BUS N and Tx-6 N Split) on the east side of TX-6 on County Road 317 (3450 County Road 317, Navasota, TX 77868).

Directions through Hempstead:
  • Take Hwy 290W through Hempstead
  • From Hempstead take
  • Hwy 6N for 16 miles
  • Turn right onto County Road 317
  • Travel to the end of the road past the camp gate
Directions through Conroe:
  • From Conroe, take Hwy 105W for 45 miles
  • Turn left onto Hwy 6 South
  • for 3 miles
  • Turn left onto County Road 317
  • (just past Grassy Creek)
  • Travel to the end of the road past the camp gate.

Fall CalendarThe Pack 133 committee has finalized the fall schedule for the upcoming school year, including key events for the Spookoree Camp-Out and the Pack Holiday Party.

  • November 10-12, 2023 - Webelos Coyote Trail Extreme /  Coastal Plains Webelos Woods
  • November 27, 2023 - Pack Meeting 
  • December 6, 2023 - Bake Sale at Texas Roadhouse 
  • December 9, 2023 - SHAC Day of Service 
  • December 11, 2023 - Pack Meeting/Holiday Party
These key dates will help ensure a successful and rewarding experience for all members of Pack 133. We look forward to embarking on this exciting journey together!

Rocket Day

Coastal Plains Rocket Day 2023 is set for Saturday, October 21, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Mayorga Ranch, Orchard, TX. New Cub Scouts will showcase pre-assembled rockets, emphasizing the importance of preparing them before the event. Considering potential wait times, attendees should bring personal essentials, such as pre-filled water bottles, chairs, and snacks. The event, held at the picturesque venue provided by the Mayorga Family, underscores the "Leave No Trace" ethos and adherence to BSA YPT rules. With rockets reaching for the skies, this day promises a high-flying experience for all. For more info:  click here. 
Webelos Woods - November 10-12, 2023
The 2023 Coastal Plains Webelos Woods, taking place from November 10-12 at Long Acre Ranch in Richmond, TX, offers Webelos Scouts a firsthand taste of Scouting's outdoor adventures. Troop 801 organized the weekend campout, immersing Webelos dens in patrol-method camping and round-robin Scout activities. Saturday's agenda has Webelos competing in essential Scouting skills, from knot-tying to first aid, while also learning from local troops in the afternoon. As they camp alongside host troops, these young Scouts partake in fun competitions, delve into meal preparations, and engage in campfire skits and songs on Saturday night. This valuable experience is complemented by the provision of supper by the host troops and guidance for parents on transitioning their Webelos Scouts to a troop. With a registration deadline of November 8th and a fee of $10, it's an essential event for both Scouts and their leaders, designed to bridge the journey from Webelos to full-fledged Scouting. Webelos Coyote Trail Extreme - November 10-12, 2023
Webelos Coyote Trail Xtreme is a specialty Adventure Camp weekend for 4th and 5th grade Webelos Scouts at Bovay Scout Ranch. During this fast-paced, fun-filled weekend, Webelos Scouts work on Arrow of Light requirements while trekking across the ranch to exciting outpost program areas. Webelos Scouts are introduced to the patrol method, giving them a unique experience of the importance of teamwork and an introduction to Scouting. Space is limited, so register early.
